Engineering Intern

Internship Objective

Develop maintenance engineering skills by taking a safety project from scoping through design, implementation, verification, and handover under mentor guidance. Eliminate an identified safety hazard through engineering controls. Improve equipment drawings, maintenance documentation, work planning, preventive maintenance (PM) checklists, and asset data quality to support safer operations, consistent maintenance, equipment reliability, and faster access to technical information and parts.

Capstone: One completed engineering-control project that eliminates an identified safety hazard, with before/after conditions, approved design, cost and material summary, implementation, effectiveness verification, and a final presentation.

Supporting deliverables: Reviewed Grenzebach CAD drawings; SOPs and troubleshooting guides; Standard Work Order job plans and material lists; PM checklists; and one verified asset BOM with corrected part numbers, descriptions, and quantities

What You’ll Do:

• Complete a safety project that eliminates an identified hazard through engineering controls.
• Create CAD drawings for new Grenzebach equipment.
• Develop SOPs, maintenance documents, and troubleshooting guides.
• Prepare Standard Work Order job plans and material lists; convert PM task plans into checklists.
• Clean and verify the bill of materials (BOM) for one selected asset.

What You’ll Bring:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029 (rising junior or rising senior).
• Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills

• Technical writing: Ability to create clear SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance job plans.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving: Ability to understand equipment operation, identify safety hazards, and develop practical engineering improvements.
• Attention to detail and data organization: Ability to verify parts information, clean asset BOMs, and develop accurate preventive maintenance checklists.
• CAD drawing: Ability to create and update accurate equipment drawings using CAD software, including dimensions, layouts, and component details to support maintenance and engineering projects.

What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $20 to $25 per hour. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and may change over time.
