As an Engineering Manager you will safely and efficiently execute capital projects including new construction and/or upgrades to existing equipment.  This individual must have a strong background in capital engineering, construction, manufacturing, and possess the ability to lead engineering team(s), engineering firms, equipment vendors, and contractors along with working in cross functional groups. Must have technical ability to understand and the ability to design, specify, procure, install and commission equipment.

 

The ideal candidate shall have 10-15+ years’ experience supervising project teams, developing budgets, writing capital expenditures, and overseeing mid to large capital construction projects from inception through startup. To be effective in this role this individual must have hands on engineering experience with bulk material handling, milling/grinding, pulp processing, fourdrinier machines, autoclaving, coatings systems, pressing, and high-speed material handling equipment. 

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Proven leadership experience and ability to manage the multidiscipline aspects of people, projects including geotechnical, utilities, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and piping.
  • Proven leadership skills to manage a project portfolio from a safety, quality, cost, and schedule perspective forecasting and delivering promised results while collaborating with manufacturing, business, and many other departments.
  • Experience in understanding, leading and designing / sizing piping system, tanks, pumps, batching equipment, material storage silos, bulk material transfer & conveying systems, grinding equipment, mixing systems, compressors, pumps, boilers, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, etc. that align with process / production requirements. 
  • A strong background in developing mechanical equipment specifications for goods and services.
  • Ability to develop and leading a full scope of work for use in soliciting general contractor proposals including all site utilities, civil and structural works, buildings, process equipment and exterior paving.
  • Ability to prepare and lead request for quotation documentation, solicit / review bids and award contracts.
  • Ability to prepare and manage project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead design review meetings pertaining to process requirements, equipment design / layout, piping and instrumentation diagrams, utilities and HAZOP study. 
  • Ability to gather and disseminate design data to EH&S team for use in preparing permit applications.
  • Ability to understand and work with detailed commissioning plans for use in equipment checkout and systems startup.

 

What You'll Bring: 

  • Bachelor of Science Required in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10-15+ years of experience managing heavy industrial capital projects
  • Experience in Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of International Building Codes and OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of AWS, ANSI, and ASTM standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Proficient with personal computers and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, Outlook, Internet Explorer and AutoCAD.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to prepare and present information to senior management.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to work independently. 
  • Must be able to multi-task, pay close attention to detail, and follow up regularly.
  • Must take initiative and be results oriented.
  • Must be able to lead and be a part of cross functional teams.
