As part of the Core Product Management Team, the Senior Product Manager is responsible for the end-to-end performance of the HardieBacker and premium product line, specifically P&L/baseline business management, product strategy, and project management of key initiatives.  This position will have high cross functional interaction and shared accountability with Segments, Sales, MFG, Supply Chain, and R&D.  James Hardie’s HardieBacker product line is large scale business that requires a talented, experienced Senior Manager. 

Position Responsibilities:
Senior Product Management: 

  • Fulfilling the below responsibilities for a large-scale business 

  • Baseline product stewardship– P&L, Sales, Service, Capacity, Brand Promise, Quality, Competitors 

  • Product Strategy – Ensuring we have the right products and the right value for our customer, end-user, and consumer segments to drive profitable growth 

  • Key Initiatives – Critical analysis, identification, and business alignment around projects that support a check/adjust to any aspect of the product line 

  • Product Roadmap – Leading commercial prioritization for future innovation to drive profitable growth 

  • Project Management – Leading projects/key initiatives to improve the business 

  • People Management & Development – Lead direct report 

 
Position Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required): 

  • Excellent leadership, project management, collaboration skills, and the ability to drive results 

  • Ability to proactively manage multiple projects in a fast paced, change oriented environment, yet flexible enough to adapt to changes 

  • Ability to analyze business, market trends and partner feedback to better refine product offerings and drive business growth 

  • Strong bias for results and ability to work independently as well as interact effectively across functions and at all levels 

  • Demonstrated history developing and maintaining strong relationships with potential partners across industry 

  • Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing value chain, supply chain and manufacturing environment 

  • Ability to achieve alignment and buy in for strategies and plans to drive achievement of goals 

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully understand profit and loss techniques and skills to develop and evaluate business goals and strategies, analyze information to derive insights and implications to initiate planning and/or re-planning, and controlling actual results versus budget 

  • Results-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion 

  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals 

  • Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and proprietary software) 

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% 

  

Education/Experience (required): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Sales, Engineering or related field. MBA preferred 

  • Seven or more years of experience in product or brand management, and/or channel marketing in a consumer durable goods or related industry 

  • Multi-faceted market research experience to derive market insights 

  • Experiencing managing the product, place, price and promotion (4 Ps of marketing) 

  • Proven project management experience in a cross-functional environment 

  • Business to business plus business to consumer marketing experience (preferred) 

  • Experience managing a small team 

 

What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $145,700 to $189,400. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
