Summary

The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) is responsible for supporting sales initiatives by identifying new install capacity, providing onsite installation training and developing installer/sub contactor partnerships to drive to deliver value to our customers. As a member of the Sales Team, the Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) reports to the local Area/Regional sales Leader and receives direction/training from the Technical Segment Leader. The TSS integrates with the sales team through aligned technical sales strategies while providing insights on identifying the targeted crews, installation trends, and assisting in the creation and sharing of best practices to the team. Responsibilities that focus on identifying new opportunities in each segment, delivering job site installer training, completing installation audits and efficiency assessments, gather contractor economics information and report progress to Technical Sales Managers.

Installer Account Management 

Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with install partners and sub-contractors ensuring retention and loyalty to James Hardie customer (Dealer) by increasing JH capacity in the market to enable the customer to sell more Hardie to their customers, through affordability and quality. 

Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the construction department of builder end users ensuring retention and loyalty to James Hardie 

Increase outreach and engagement of Hispanic communities in building installer contractor networks. 

Effectively engage with prospective customers by developing a solid understanding of JHBP company products, customer programs and benefits, while utilizing our market development sales approach. 

Targeting select installers and crews to build capacity and drive affordability that will convert new business on behalf of JH Supporting Joint Action Plans. 

Support customers as they move to James Hardie by eliminating barriers to conversion & creating a positive customer experience through the transition. 

Utilize CRM tools to drive informed decisions that enable additional volume growth year over year. 

Installer Training Support 

Provide support to install partners and sub-contractions through the creation and delivery of job site training, on-site support, and quality audits to help convert new business. 

Deliver continuous education and training for our trade partners on James Hardie “Best Practices”, enhancing our brand and setting us apart from our competitors. 

Participate in pre-construction meetings between builders and install companies. 

Manages and holds themselves accountable to a priority-based schedule with existing and prospective customers.  

Installer Business Intelligence 

Gather contractor economics data by speaking with contracting crews about James Hardie product costs. 

Complete installation assessments on new crews, prior to, and after trainings to track compliance progression of installation best practices. 

Provide competitive market advantage opportunities to identified installation companies to ensure sustainable growth.  

Create a database of installers and sub-contractors in the local marketplace.

Bilingual Spanish/English (required). 

Associates Degree or equivalent experience required. 

1-3 years of residential construction experience required (technical construction preferred). 

Demonstrated knowledge regarding the use of tools (pneumatic nailing guns, power circular saws, hand tools) and practices of siding installation or general construction applications. 

Knowledge of construction operations and building codes. 

 1 or more years of professional sales experience is preferred 

Willingness and ability to cultivate relationships, grow networks, nurture leads, and passion to identify targets. 

Able to convey construction expertise and knowledge at job sites. 

A basic understanding of the sales process. 

Passion for the company and personal success to meet or exceed goals. 

Experience using CRM’s, specifically Salesforce.com (preferred). 

Travel 30 - 40 %, valid driver’s license required 

Able to present in front of large groups.
