Summary

 As the IP Innovations Analyst, you will be the pivotal force between the company’s R&D and IP departments.  You will have a strong technical and an equally strong analytical background.  You will preferably also have technology landscaping and/or prior art searching experience.  In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise and grow your career with our international R&D and IP teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collecting, screening, and analyzing relevant data to extract industry trends to enable informed decisions by senior stakeholders on the appropriate IP strategy in line with the business strategy.
  • Working directly with JH Global Innovation and Engineering teams to Identify and protect IP generated
  • Collaborate with the R&D leadership team to create realistic and timely goals for IP capture within and across functional teams
  •  Ability to analyze and apply critical thinking to highly technical documents to identify information of relevance to the business and communicate this back to the business in a succinct, simple, and clear manner.
  • Build technology landscapes and platforms comprising JH and/or third-party technologies to identify, gather and understand technology landscapes and third-party portfolios.
  • Developing search strategies to support diverse investigations to identify, gather and understand third parties’ patent publications and other scientific publications, as part of the technology platforms IP landscapes and of targeted portfolio analysis.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to review third parties’ technology developments to identify novel aspects of their inventions and overarching strategy and how that relates to industry advances.
  • Focusing on patent strategies, filing strategy and the mapping of the products in the marketplace to support the creation of robust innovation, product, and technology roadmaps.
  • Building a comprehensive understanding of the industry trends, to develop heatmaps and identify threats and opportunities and communicating this information to management.
  • Maintaining and continuously improving R&D awareness of industry trends.

What You’ll Bring:

  •  A University Degree (BSc/MS/PhD) in Chemistry/ Mat Science/Engineering/Physics.
  • Ability to understand key business strategies and the link to the resulting IP strategy and able of executing strategic planning and effectively implement them.
  • Proficiency in the use of search package tools such as: PatBase; Orbit Intelligence/Innovation; Pat Snap and/or similar.
  • Be comfortable in dealing effectively with large data sets.
  • Be comfortable liaising with different stakeholders, at different levels in the organization, to clearly communicate complex matters to stimulate discussion and follow up on the necessary actions.
  • Be comfortable using your scientific expertise to collaborate and advise with our R&D innovators and IP attorneys with respect to intellectual property cases and issues
  • Excellent demonstrable leadership, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills which are applicable across a global setting.
  • Desire to learn about new technologies and innovations and ability to grasp new technical areas
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in one or more other languages desirable

 

Preferred

  • Sound knowledge of the foundations of Patent Law, comprising filing and prosecution, with very good understanding of claim construction and interpretation rules.
  • Proficiency in use of international public patent registers such as EPO, USPTO, WIPO and others to extract bibliographic and patent prosecution information and be conversant with the IP/legal language used therein.

What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $100,000 - $125,000.  Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
