Summary

Position Summary: Oversee and assist Shift Leaders, Operators and Rail Car Attendants to ensure organizational commitments regarding people, safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations are met. Collaborate with other departments to determine, analyze, and mitigate issues within the blending environment. Responsible for ensuring that company policy and procedures are enforced and adhered to. Responsible for resolving member conflict and fostering an environment in which members are engaged. This position will be a 12-hour rotating shift (2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, etc.) on nights 6:30pm-7:00AM.

What You’ll Do:

Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversight to the Blending Team to ensure company objectives are attained regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Assigns work assignments to the Team Leaders, Operators, and Rail Car Attendants.
  • Ensures plant safety procedures are followed in order to promote personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and assists in raw material deliveries daily to ensure enough raw materials are accessible.
  • Practices strong engagement with direct reports and team members including promoting diversity, sharing responsibility for success, demonstrating honesty and integrity, helping employees solve problems and showing respect.
  • Communicates pertinent information to Rail Car Attendants, Operators, and Leads.
  • Provides training to Shift Leaders, Operators, and Rail Car Attendants.
  • Troubleshoots blend systems and blending equipment for problems and makes proper adjustments.
  • Ensures the proper materials and mixes are used to blend according to identified specifications.
  • Ensures operators maintain and observe batch tolerances, moisture, and all identified quality parameters.
  • Monitors the quality of the blends, performs daily audits, and follows posted process standards.
  • Ensures compliance regarding preventive maintenance and general maintenance as required.
  • Performs safety checks on all machinery in the department and reports safety issues as needed.
  • Identifies maintenance requirements and works with maintenance to repair equipment as required.
  • Performs administrative duties and processes all required forms/paperwork.
  • Assists Operations to ensure production schedule is followed and executed completely and on time.
  • Ensures housekeeping duties are performed on the plant floor.
  • Understands, supports, and follows all company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Works with management team to develop and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other assignments as directed.

What You’ll Bring:

We believe the successful candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Technical degree from 2-year college/university (preferred)
  • 3 plus years of manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Minimum 1 year leadership Experience required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Help drive team development effectively

Must be self-directed, motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment; Work schedule flexibility (on designated crews), with no advance notice, to accommodate needs of the organization. 

Success Measures:

  • Thirty (30) days:
    • Be able to respond appropriately to safety-related items and have a foundation for safety continuous improvement
    • Be able to navigate UKG and utilize HR programs effectively
    • Be able to verbally explain general process for blending, grinding, Wood, PVC, and Rail operations
    • Be able to identify raw materials, where stored, and how used
    • Understands performance metrics and targets, and how they are measured
    • With assistance, be able to complete daily reporting requirements
  • Sixty (60) days:
    • Be able to navigate blend systems and understand basic operations
    • Understand yard operations
    • Understand blend and yard operator standard work and be able to monitor compliance
    • Be able to complete material dispositions and enter work orders
    • Able to lead Tier I meetings with team
  • Ninety (90) days:
    • Be able to navigate HMI systems and be familiar with control room operations
    • Be able to demonstrate basic troubleshooting and problem solving
    • Be able to conduct effective performance counseling
    • Be an active contributor for continuous improvement

What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
