Paint Specialist
Position Summary:
The Color Plus paint specialist is an S level position in James Hardie SBS matrix. His primary role is to oversee the paint management in the color plus department. He is under direct supervision of the Department Foreman. He supervises the filter press as well as the paint mixers to meet the paint or filter press related demands of Color Plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Managing and Training of the paint mixers and filter press operators
- Initiates purchase requests for parts and supplies for the paint farm and filter press
- Tracking paint usage and water usage in the department
- To be on call for any color or filter press related issues
- Overall knowledge of paint batching and filter press operations
- Troubleshooting of paint or paint farm related issues
- Troubleshooting of the filter press
- Assisting of troubleshooting paint related issues on the lines
- SOP and procedure updating, equipment calibrations and maintenance, lab function ability

Decision Making:
The Paint Specialist balances priorities, manpower, material, and has supervisory responsibility for all the paint mixers and filter press operators.
Supervisory/Lead Responsibilities:
The paint specialist provides leadership, mentoring, and has supervisory responsibility for all the paint mixers and filter press operators.
Scope of Position:
The paint specialist directs, coordinates, and supports paint farm and filter press requirements. These duties include but are not limited to Managing and Training of the paint mixers and filter press operators, initiates purchase requests for parts and supplies for the paint farm and filter press. Tracking paint usage and water usage in the department, to be on call for any color or filter press related issues, overall knowledge of paint batching and filter press operations, troubleshooting of paint or paint farm related issues on the lines, SOP and procedure updating, equipment calibrations and maintenance, and lab functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Demonstrates advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.

- Must have the ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the filter press and its concepts
- Have the ability to read/comprehend instructions given thru instruction manuals and SOP’s
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proven ability to work in a safe manner
- Must be completely versed in the use of the Spectrophotometers, and all lab related equipment
- Forklift licensed
- Can work with heights
Education/Experience:
Required:
- Previous experience in a paint related field or James Hardie Specialist level position. E.g. coater or process technician as an example is preferred but not required.
