As a member of the maintenance improvement program reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Reliability Engineer performs functions to implement a preventive /predictive maintenance program which will maximize electrical component reliability.  

 

What You’ll Do:

Works to develop and implement new electrical reliability programs, managing these programs from inception to implementation. (40%) 

  • Identifying all equipment reliability issues through root cause analysis and the preventative/predictive maintenance program and developing electrical reliability road maps to correct any deficiency.  

  •  Updating the bill of materials for existing equipment and creating bill of materials for new assets. 

  • riting preventive maintenance procedures and frequencies based on vendor recommendations, professional experience, and best available practice; an 

  • Implementing and managing electrical cabinet cleaning and cool air programs to improve the reliability of these components.   

Works and collaborates with various departments to develop and maintain specific targets, strategies and tactics to maximize equipment availability to drive asset productivity improvement by: (30%) 

  • Reviewing preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and modifying accordingly; 

  • Reviewing existing data to investigate equipment trends; 

  • Identifying failure modes and writing preventive procedures; 

  • Implementing electrical predictive maintenance technology, including ultrasound, Infrared and MCA/MCE 

  • Writing work process improvements; 

  • Setting up reliability-based metrics while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agency and company requirements; and 

  • Designing and developing new and unique repair methods and procedures. 

  

Work closely with maintenance and/or production personnel to resolve chronic equipment related issues by appropriately using reliability tools such as: (30%) 

  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM); 

  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA); 

  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA); and 

  • Collecting data using predictive technologies and interpreting that data to prevent unplanned failures.

Decision Making:  The Reliability Engineer uses professional judgment and accepted best practices to populate a computer maintenance management system with equipment, preventive maintenance procedures and bill of materials in the first step of establishing a reliability centered maintenance program. 

 

Supervisory/Lead Responsibilities: Works with Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Leads , Maintenance Technicians and Planners to develop a planned preventive/predictive maintenance program. 

 

Scope of Position: The Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for populating the CMMS with preventive maintenance procedures and frequencies which provide the foundation for the maintenance reliability program. As this foundation is established the job will evolve into a leadership and trainer role for planned and preventive maintenance programs in our facilities.  

  

Position Requirements 

  

Education/Experience 

  • BS Degree  in Engineering in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical preferred and must be from an accredited institution 

  • 3 or more years of electrical reliability experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing maintenance environment. 

  • Electrical root cause analysis, electrical preventative maintenance, electrical installation procedure (SOP, PMs) 

  • Hands-on experience with various predictive maintenance technologies and methodologies.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Skilled with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software). 

  • Experience with a computer maintenance management system (CMMS), such as EAM Hexagon, MP2or similar system. 

  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals. 

  • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual diligence about follow-up. 

  • Strong desire to learn. 

  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task. 

  • Must be able to lead and be a part of cross-functional teams.  

  • Knowledgeable of root cause and fault tree analysis techniques.
