Process Engineer - New Product Introduction

Position Summary

 

The Process Engineer - NPI will safely and efficiently ensure that our new products seamlessly flow from R&PD to full production.  This individual must have a strong background in manufacturing, and possess the ability to work cross-functionally with the R&PD, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial organizations to optimize product quality, our manufacturing process, and cost.

 

The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience managing projects from inception through startup. To be effective in this role this individual must have hands on manufacturing and engineering experience with the ability to serve as a subject matter expert for our new product processes and technologies.

 

This role will report through Central Engineering.  Projects will occur across all US operating plants and will require travel accordingly.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Provide leadership in a manufacturing environment with a high degree of product and process complexity.
  • Successful execution of handoff from development to mass scale production in a manufacturing plant.
  • Supports scale-up of new equipment and technology in manufacturing plants, including the development of standard work, technical training of operators, and scale-up to meet NPI objectives.
  • Drive action plans to meet product deliverables and timelines.
  • Provide support to resolve product quality issues and complex manufacturing problems in a timely fashion.
  • Track and analyze technical problems to identify patterns/trends and determine cost effective ways to eliminate root causes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment on product scope, quality, and production schedules.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture/mindset with respect to project delivery and leadership demonstrated through the utiliziation of performance metrics and definded performance improvement plans.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Traits

 

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong critical thinking, logic and top down thinking capability
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, agile environment
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who can be effective and hit the ground running with minimal supervision
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to prepare and present information to senior management.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to work independently. 
  • Must be able to multi-task, pay close attention to detail, and follow up regularly.
  • Must take initiative and be results oriented.
  • Must be able to lead and be a part of cross functional teams. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel 25-50% in the future (8-12 months out)

 

Education/Experience:

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial preferred) - Degree must be from an accredited institution
  • 2-3+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or R&PD
