The Human Resources Manager partners with employees at all levels in the manufacturing plant to provide expertise and counseling for all people issues affecting plant operations. This role involves HR business partnering with the Plant Manager and overseeing a small team of HR professionals. The HR Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including EEO and the ADA, while driving change and improvement in bottom-line results and implementing corporate organizational initiatives.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Partnership (50%):

  • Partner with plant managers to design/develop workforce planning and recruitment strategies.
  • Collaborate with plant and staff mangers to provide performance appraisal input and ensure timely completion of performance reviews.
  • Attend management meetings to understand and revise plant operations, develop staff and address employee relations issues.
  • Drive Lean manufacturing programs and standard work to support continuous improvement within HR department and across the site.
  • Utilize and review people data and analytics to create insights, develop solutions and provide strategic guidance to management. Audit HRIS data to achieve a 95% accuracy goal.
  • Review Employee Engagement Survey results with managers to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Identify and secure management training in areas such as interviewing, selection, terminations, promotions, performance management and sexual harassment.
  • Employee Relations and Communication (40%):

  • Maintain excellent communication and positive relationships with employees to promote satisfaction.
  • Implement an effective internal communications strategy between the plant manager and the workforce.
  • Communicate company goals to employees, ensuring they are recognized and valued.
  • Oversee plant-based training, ensuring timely completion and certification.
  • Manage communication regarding benefits, compensation, employee referral programs and EAP programs.
  • Oversee personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers and terminations.
  • Conduct and review exit interviews to uncover the reasons behind voluntary separations, identify trends and develop actionable solutions.
  • Compliance and Policy Management (10%):

  • Stay informed on employment law concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with EEO and ADA guidelines.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure employee retention and engagement while aligning with business strategy.

What You’ll Bring:  

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field required (degree must be from an accredited institution).
  • 10+ years of Human Resources experience in a generalist capacity, with a minimum of 5 years managing Employee Relations, compensation, benefits administration, training, and/or recruitment.
  • Proven leadership, management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence across all levels and functions.
  • Proactive involvement and understanding of employees and their working environments.
  • Expertise in providing insightful HR consultation to leaders and employees.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work onsite everyday with an early start time.
  • Thorough understanding of complex business requirements.
  • Ability to objectively coach, influence, and mentor employees and management through complex or difficult issues.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions to solve problems or reach goals. 
  • Ability to work within existing policy structures to meet the needs of management and employees.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with multiple priorities.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
