The EHS Representative will work primarily as a Safety Trainer to execute New Hire Orientation Training, Annual Compliance Training, review and update safety training, and validates field execution of training. Additionally, the EHS Representative will promote general safety among 24/7 crews as well as the support team, acting as a “brother’s keeper” helping move them toward zero harm in a 24/7 safety culture. The position is a five day per week, 40 hr. per week position. Schedule will require nights and weekends at times. 

 

REPORTING 

The EHS Representative will have a direct reporting structure to the EHS Manager and a dotted line reporting structure to the HR Manager. Since this role’s focus is on line level employee safety, the incumbant must work closely with the production departments, their departments leadership, maintenance, engineering etc. as well as the other trainers to help coordinate and facilitate working together toward a common goal of Zero Harm plant wide.  

 

What You’ll Do:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the EHS Representative are as follows: 

  • Coordinate and facilitate all new hire orientation safety courses demonstrating professionalism, relatability, and must be engaging. 

  • Coordinate with supervisors to help lead crews in pre-shift safety topics and relate current relevant safety information. 

  • Encourage and promote the use of the various safety / communication tools: 

  1. TSA’s and Risk Assessments– encourage and assist crew members with safety huddles before starting non-routine job task. 

  1. ECP’s – train, coach, mentor and validate employees are executing to the standards. 

  1. Peer to peer coaching’s and observations - Encourage interaction between peers on the crews related to safety 

  1. Safety observation – encourage and assist crew members in having a regular safety contact. 

  1. Hazard / near miss reporting – encourage and assist crew members on the reporting of hazards and near hits, first aids, property damages, environmental excursions etc. as they occur. Perform follow up and provide feedback to crew members on the status of hazard that have been submitted. 

  1. Help promote and drive safety initiatives like Safestart, targeted engagements, etc… 

  1. Be a voice for safety with line level employees, communicating concerns to EH&S Department Manager and sharing with department leadership appropriately 

  1. Provide feedback to the operators to close feedback loops 

  1. Help identify and implement ways of making our workplace safer. 

  1. Provide Positive Coaching to fellow teams members, giving them a sense of empowerment and ownership in their safety as well as their co-workers safety.  

  1. Auditing and routine inspections of eyewash stations, PIV inspections, etc…

  • Ability to work well with co-workers.
