Shipping Manager

The Shipping Manager is directly responsible for the safety of the warehouse, both of person and product, as well as the logistical flow of all finished good products coming in and out of the plant. This includes following James Hardie processes and procedures for daily trucking and rail schedules with forward looking planning to understand what is coming the next day to pre-stage shipments for expediting.  The Shipping Manager will facilitate reporting on performance against operating and financial KPI measures and involved in cost reduction initiatives.  


Job responsibilities

§ Plan and implement overall shipping strategy.

§ Execute the logistical flow of all finished good products coming in and out of the plant via truck and rail.

§ Manage inbound and outbound shipment of raw materials by rail.

§ Develop, maintain, and communicate warehouse KPI’s.

§ Maintain 99% on-time service metric by ensuring all trucks get loaded and out on the day they are scheduled for.

§ Manage and help with cycle counts of all finished good products to maintain inventory accuracy.

§ Grow and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (logistics brokers, rail providers, vendors, and James Hardie Employees).

§ Develop and implement cost saving measures to minimize demurrage/detention.

§ Supervise and oversee shipping team members.



§ 10+ Years of experience preferred of equivalent warehouse/shipping experience

§ High school diploma/GED required. Bachelors Degree preferred (degree must be from an accredited institution).

§ Comfortable working in a largely self-directed environment

§ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook



§ Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

§ Ability to multi-task

§ Strong analytical skills

§ Self-starter and self-motivated

§ Strong organizational skills

§ Detail orientated and strong follow up skills
