Summary
James Hardie Cost Accountants are crucial members of both our Finance and Manufacturing teams. Not only do they ensure the proper accounting and controls are executed in each of our plants, they also are excellent analysts and story tellers. As a member of this team, you will know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You will partner with Operational and Finance teams to analyze processes, financial trends and develop ways to improve our manufacturing performance. James Hardie Cost Accountants are flexible, highly motivated and analytical with strong communication skills and a drive for continuous improvement. As a Cost Accountant, you will manage the core accounting functions within your manufacturing plant. You will have the opportunity to work with co-workers across the Finance organization to drive Finance initiatives. You will also be on site in the manufacturing facility where our products are produced and enjoy influencing the process and direction of the plant, sharing your ideas and creating opportunities to improve both operational and financial performance.
What You’ll Do:
• Drive accounting processes within the plant to ensure accurate books and records and compliance to key control requirements including Sarbanes Oxley.
• Forecasting, analyzing and reporting the Manufacturing plant performance to James Hardie leadership teams.
• Identifying, analyzing, leading and implementing process/cost improvements in both the Financial and Operational parts of our business with the appropriate involvement of Finance and Operational partners.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and subject matter expertise for your area of responsibility.
• Plan, analyze, and communicate the profitability of the plant’s manufacturing operations to produce informative, detailed reports outlining efficiencies, plant production, and key financial information for management review.
• Guide cost analysis process by implementing, refining, and reporting cost account processes that highlight operational opportunities and initiate projects that provide effective solutions.
• Coordinates and conducts cycle counts and annual physical counts within the plant.
• Make decisions based on trends identified in the operational data and offers his/her opinion and solutions to management. Recommend changes and areas of improvement where appropriate, backed by the data analysis from our systems.
• Train others on best practices, changes to current processes, cycle counting, etc.
• Perform analysis, problem solve, and generate new solutions/ideas.
What You’ll Bring:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Accounting or Finance Degree preferred)
• 3 or more years in a manufacturing related business
• 4 or more years of strong experience in Cost Accounting (standard costing, material, labor and overhead variance analysis)
• Demonstrated experience with ERP systems software (SAP preferred)
• Ability to influence others without a direct reporting relationship
• High-level of communication skill with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
• Ability to implement ideas across multi-plant/country environment
• Demonstrated ability to focus/prioritize on multiple opportunities at one time
• Competitive, creative outside-the-box thinker
What You’ll Receive:
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $85,000 - $100,000. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
