What You’ll Do: 

 

As the Materials Specialist you will be responsible for negotiating and managing relationships with our supplier base, while also managing the purchase order (PO) process. 

 

  • Create, confirm and update purchase orders 
  • Review daily open purchase orders 
  • Update monthly GRIR (goods-receipt/invoice-receipt) report for three-way match 
  • Participate in monthly inventory cycle counts 
  • Reconcile receipts on commodities monthly 
  • Verify receipts on blankets and lease purchase orders 
  • Approve report on released PO’s daily 
  • Manage plant procurement activities for raw materials, supplies and services, including the coordination of transportation and logistics 
  • Maintain adequate stock levels for raw materials as well as inventory accuracy 
  • Manage relationships with supplier base proactively while assessing new opportunities 
  • Secure bids and receive quotes from vendors/suppliers 
  • Provide thorough analysis of selected scenarios to allow for a well-informed positive outcome 
  • Provide timely reporting to the Plant Controller and the Purchasing Manager and other leadership 
  • Coordinate implementation of contracts across plants that are affected 
  • Supervise controls on receipts, acknowledgment of materials and supplies, and the maintenance of purchasing records 
  • Manage the relationship with suppliers while assessing vendor performance and market conditions 
  • Deploy corporate strategic procurement initiatives at the plant level  
  • Provide thorough analysis of procurement opportunities to allow data-driven future-forward planning

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in purchasing required  
  • Material requirements planning (MRP) experience in a manufacturing environment or building materials preferred  
  • Demonstrated experience in ERP systems software (SAP preferred)  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude 
  • Ability to develop and manage supplier relationships  
  • Ability to influence suppliers to achieve the best outcome as it relates to business objectives 
  • Demonstrate personal integrity in conducting business  
  • Ability to conduct thorough request for proposal (RFP) analysis for effective evaluation of suppliers’ competitiveness  
  • Demonstrated ability to focus/prioritize on multiple opportunities at one time 
  • Ability to influence others without a direct reporting relationship 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to the right audience in a timely fashion using an effective communication method, depending on the nature of the information. 
  • Ability to see and understand the company point of view as well as that of suppliers 
  • Proven capability and capacity to manage multiple programs, projects and supplier relationships  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution 
  • Demonstrated effective analytical and decision-making principles 
  • Advanced skills with MS Office and proprietary software
