The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) is responsible for supporting sales initiatives by identifying new install capacity, providing onsite installation training and reinforcement, and collecting ground level market data for James Hardie Building Products in their defined territory. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for developing installer & sub labor partnerships to drive efficiencies through training and tracking compliance results on product installations for key accounts to deliver value to our customers.

 

As a member of the Sales Team, the Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) reports to the local Area/Regional sales Leader and receives direction/training from the Technical Segment Leader. The TSS integrates with the sales team through aligned technical sales strategies while providing insights on identifying the targeted crews, installation trends, and assisting in the creation and sharing of best practices to the team. Responsibilities that focus on identifying new capacity in each segment, delivering job site installer training, completing installation audits and efficiency assessments, gather real-time contractor economics information and report progress and gaps to Technical Sales Managers. Must require bi-lingual capabilities. The bi-lingual capabilities (English/Spanish) of the TSS, will enable deeper access into the crew level operators of the siding installation space. The TSS will engage building contractor crews on projects in their territory and target them for development into James Hardie enablers in the market.

 

 What You’ll Do:

Contractor Partnership

  • Make appointments to residential building sites, multiple times per day, 3-4 days per week.
  • Utilize bi-lingual capabilities to increase outreach and engagement of Hispanic communities in building installer contractor networks.
  • Effectively engage with prospective customers by developing a solid understanding of JHBP company products, customer programs and benefits, while utilizing our market development sales approach.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with install partners and sub-contractors ensuring retention and loyalty to James Hardie
    • Customer (Dealer) by increasing JH capacity in the market to enable the customer to sell more Hardie to their customers, through affordability and quality.
  • Partner with new and existing siding crews to improve their installation quality, by identifying gaps in their capabilities.
  • Responsible for facilitating jobsite trainings, follow ups, and install audits.
  • Targeting select installers and crews to build capacity and drive affordability that will allow them convert new business on behalf of JH Supporting Joint Action Plans:  Provide on-site install/technical support when new builders convert to James Hardie products.

 

Market Data Gathering

  • Gathering contractor economics data by speaking with contracting crews about James Hardie product costs.
  • Completing installation assessments on new crews, prior to, and after trainings to track compliance progression of installation best practices.
  • Partners with their Technical Sales Managers to enable increased execution capability of the district team for both market development and account management priorities.
  • Provides competitive market advantage opportunities to identified installation companies to ensure sustainable growth.

Installer Training Support

  • Provide support to install partners and sub-contractions through the creation and delivery of job site training, “on the wall” (hands on) job site support, and quality audits to help convert new business in the market.
  • Deliver continuous education and training for our trade partners on James Hardie “Best Practices”, enhancing our brand, setting us apart from our competitors, and fueling growth.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings between builders and install companies.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the construction department of builder end users ensuring retention and loyalty to James Hardie
  • Manages and holds themselves accountable to a priority-based schedule with existing and prospective customers. 

 

What You’ll Bring:  

  • Bilingual - Spanish/English (required).
  • Some construction knowledge or experience.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding the use of tools (pneumatic nailers, power circular saws, hand tools) and practices of siding installation or general construction applications.
  • Prior track record of success in a technical construction role.
  • Passion for the company and personal success to meet or exceed goals.
  • Knowledge of construction operations and building codes.
  • Experience using CRM’s, specifically Salesforce.com (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
