Position Summary:

The Technical Sales Specialist, Single Family New Construction (SFNC) is responsible for supporting sales initiatives by patterning in the creation and delivery of site support to installation companies and sub-contractors. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for developing installer & sub labor partnerships to drive efficiencies through training and tracking compliance results on product installations for key accounts to deliver value to our customers.

As a member of the Sales Team, the Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) reports to the Local Manager and integrates with the sales team through aligned technical sales strategies while providing insights on identifying the targeted crews, installation trends, and assisting in the creation and sharing of best practices to the team.

 

What You’ll Do: 

A day in the life of this job can include the following

  • Provide support to install partners and sub-contractions through the creation and delivery of job site training, on the wall (hands on) job site support, and quality audits to help convert new business in the market (30%)
  • Supporting Joint Action Plans:  Provide on-site install/technical support when new builders convert to JH
  • Enabling Joint Action Plans:  Improving alignment of labor crews to enable builder conversions to transpire- eliminating labor as the bottleneck by improving our alignment to “order-taker”
  • Driving Joint Action Plans:  Targeting select installers and crews to build capacity and drive affordability that will allow them convert new business on behalf of JH
  • Effectively engage with prospective customers by developing a solid understanding of JHBP company products, customer programs and benefits, while utilizing our market development sales approach (20%)
  • Deliver continuous education and training for our trade partners on James Hardie “Best Practices”, enhancing our brand, setting us apart from our competitors, and fueling the growth of JHBP
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings between builders and install companies
  • Able to create, host, lead and present content front of large audiences.  
  • Account management (20%)
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with install partners and sub-contractors ensuring retention and loyalty to James Hardie

  • Manages and holds themselves accountable to a priority-based schedule with existing and prospective customers. 
    • The TSS will deliver the right target of customers to the local sales team to determine which priority each quarter
    • The TSS will determine how to allocate time and resources to priority customers
  • Create a database of installers and sub-contractors in the local marketplace to deliver value to: (30%)
    • Installer by increasing capacity, efficiency and quality
    • Builder through delivery of on-site support to ensure quality
    • Customer (Dealer) by increasing JH capacity in the market to enable the customer to sell more Hardie to their customers, through affordability and quality.
    • JH Sales team grow and defend business in the local market by
      • Pro-active lead generation
      • Defending current business at the labor level
    • Provide competitive market advantage opportunities to identified installation companies to ensure sustainable growth

 

 

What You’ll Bring:  

Required

  • Some construction knowledge or experience  
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding the use of tools and practices of siding installation or general construction applications.
  • Bilingual- Spanish/English
  • Travel 20% of the time (overnight) 
  • Prior track record of success in a technical construction role
  • Passion for the company and personal success to meet or exceed goals.
  • Knowledge of construction operations and building codes
  • Experience using CRM’s, Salesforce.com (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license required.

The expected base pay range for this position is between $48,698 and $ 73,048 and include sales incentive pay. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, market conditions, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position qualifies for benefits which may also include a sales incentive plan.
