As the Tax Accountant you will be responsible for assisting in tax compliance and tax accounting requirements. You will participate in the effective and efficient operations of the Corporate Tax Department. In this role you will interact with a variety of accounting, finance and operations employees throughout the Company while executing the required responsibilities.

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

Sales and Use Tax Compliance: (45%)

  • Prepares and files U.S. sales and use tax returns.
  • Prepares and files Canadian GST/HST/QST/PST tax returns.

Property Tax Compliance (35%)

  • Prepares and files local property tax returns.
  • Prepares and files local property tax installment payments.

Tax Accounting and Administration: (20%) 

  • Prepares account reconciliations for indirect taxes.
  • Prepares monthly property tax accruals.
  • Assists with responding to internal and external inquires.
  • Supports the Corporate Tax Department projects and initiatives.
  • Support the Corporate Tax Department in responding to audit inquires of the indirect tax function.

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting or related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Tax Accounting.
  • Identifying and understanding issues; problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
  • Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals.
  • Actively identifying new areas for learning; regularly creating and taking advantage of learning opportunities; using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job and learning through their application.
  • Taking prompt action to accomplish objectives; taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive.
