As the Indirect Tax Senior Manager, you will lead the North American tax compliance, planning, and accounting including technology and processes. The role provides strategic direction and leadership to the indirect tax function, safeguards compliance with regulations, and develops and executes tax strategies. The director actively engages and collaborates with North American business leaders, financial and controllership senior management, external service providers, and other tax professionals. The position manages a team of indirect tax professionals and reports to the Vice President – North America Finance.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership over the indirect tax function.
  • Develop and execute an indirect tax strategy including transformation and automation of sales, use and property tax functions estimated at 18 million.
  • Partner with executive management on complex indirect tax matters including key strategic initiatives that drive the North America business.
  • Identify and implement indirect tax related business incentives.
  • Assist senior financial leadership in forecasting and monitoring annual cash tax flows and tax planning.
  • Drive, budget, forecast, and allocation of North American property taxes.
  • Mentor, lead and develop team of indirect tax professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and international indirect tax filings, and reporting.
  • Lead strong audit examination, controversy management and inquiries regarding indirect tax, including managing the relationship with local tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate filing of tax returns and pursue refunds and credits.
  • Monitor current and new tax regulations advising senior management.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place over accounting for indirect taxes.
  • Serve as liaison with the IT/IS function on technical matters related to indirect tax applications.
  • Demonstrate the company's values, promoting continuous improvement, and supporting compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required; Accounting or Finance preferred; Master’s in Taxation or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience, including complex, multinational manufacturing experience
  • Experiece Leading an Indirect Tax Team
  • Proven commercial experience and demonstrated specialist taxation knowledge of corporate and international indirect tax.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP pertaining to indirect tax and, where relevant, local GAAP
  • Direct in-depth technical knowledge of North American indirect taxes.
  • Proven ability to provide specialist consulting and advisory services to diverse stakeholder groups in a forward-thinking manner which anticipates and supports business needs.
  • Ability to partner with key business stakeholders to effectively address and resolve complex indirect tax related matters with a positive result driven and “hands on” outlook.
  • Aptitude to lead a team and encourage, develop, train, and motivate employees to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills with all levels in an organization.

Salary + Bonus:  The expected pay range for this position is between $150,000 and $190,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, market conditions, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position qualifies for benefits which may also include a discretionary bonus.
