What You’ll Do: 

 

As the Accounting Supervisor you will assist accounting leadership with the ownership of the general ledger, month-end close and proper overall financial statement presentation. You will be an integral part of the NA Accounting Team and will report directly to the Accounting Manager. In this role, you may have up to 1-2 direct reports and will lead individuals within the organization indirectly. You will manage, drive and support accounting projects over process and system improvements within various departments.

 

  • Prepare monthly general journal entries, account reconciliations, and various other accounting statements and reports and provides interpretation of results as appropriate to support an accurate and timely monthly financial close for the Company’s U.S. divisions
  • Ensure that the general ledger is closed within the timelines of the Company’s closing schedule
  • Ensure that all financial statements are presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and appropriate financial variance analyses are provided timely to management
  • Review financial data and account reconciliations
  • Review & approve SOX controls
  • Assist in the continued development and documentation of SOX-related policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Assist in administering and enforcing all accounting policies and procedures
  • Support the creation, development, and maintenance of the department’s process documentation and flowcharts
  • Effectively communicate and escalate issues and information to appropriate Accounting leader in a timely manner
  • Understand general departmental processes to be able to identify unusual transactions or issues
  • Provide timely communication to Accounting leaders to support an effective resolution
  • Provide general assistance and support to the Accounting leaders by preparing ad hoc reports and financial analysis
  • Provide, suggest, and support alternatives to work processes that will increase efficiencies and financial results
  • Partner with other finance and non-finance groups to support design and implement process improvements
  • Support the control and monitoring of change implementation to ensure change is being followed and is operating effectively
  • Lead special projects as assigned by leaders; interact with Accounting leadership in driving project success
  • Play a key role in general process improvements and process documentation for all facets of the accounting cycle
  • Partner with other finance and non-finance groups to support design and implement process improvements
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Perform variance reviews for relevant business unit needs
  • Research variance root causes and determine action plans to improve financial statement or outlook accuracy
  • Research various technical issues and draft memos for management’s review
  • Act as a key contact for the financial statement audit and quarterly reviews
  • Provide timely feedback to Accounting leadership to help resolve issues and/or inefficiencies
  • Mentor and guide staff accountants
  • Perform financial variance reviews relating to COGS, Fixed Assets, Inventory, etc.  
  • Approve journal entries

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
  • Mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred; Big 4 or Tier II public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience using a large ERP preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operational use
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain complex laws, codes, regulations and ordinances
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent judgments within established policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with leaders and other departments
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in providing new ideas to improve process efficiencies
  • Demonstrated advanced skills with MS Office, specifically Excel, e.g., pivot tables & Vlookups
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task, and think creatively
  • Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency and exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong accounting knowledge and experience, including full-cycle accounting process, SOX compliance, US GAAP, account reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance, and cost accounting
  • Demonstrated skill in maintaining accurate accounting and financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing, operational, special accounts, and project use.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues and use effective approaches for developing appropriate solutions within established policies and procedures 
  • Build relationships with peers, leaders, and other teams to help achieve business goals
  • Self-directed approach with exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage concurrent assignments while maintaining high performance standards and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to adjust effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Pro-actively stay current with developments and trends in areas of expertise & provide new ideas to improve process efficiencies
  • Ability to travel an average of <5%

The expected pay range for this position is between $120,000 and $130,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, market conditions, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position qualifies for benefits which may also include a discretionary bonus.
