James Hardie Building Products, Inc. has an opportunity for an experienced Buyer who will be predominately responsible for effectively negotiating and managing relationships with our supplier base. This role will be responsible for the Open Purchase Order Report, creating accurate Purchase Orders and maintaining timely and accurate Purchase Order confirmations and providing additional purchasing support as needed.  If you are a team player who is able to influence others, enjoys focusing on multiple opportunities at one time, is competitive, driven, creative, and an outside the box thinker, then this may be the opportunity for you. The position will report to the Plant Controller.

Position Responsibilities

  • Creation, confirmation and update of Purchase Orders
  • Daily open Purchase Order review
  • Monthly GRIR Report
  • Maintain inventory on office supplies
  • Participate in monthly inventory cycle counts
  • Monthly reconciliation of receipts on commodities
  • Verify receipts on blankets/lease Purchase Orders
  • Daily approval of Purchase order report on released PO’s
  • Provide thorough analysis of selected scenarios to allow for a well-informed positive outcome
  • Provide timely reporting to the Plant Controller and the National Purchasing Manager and a multi-discipline management
  • Coordinate implementation of contracts across affected plants
  • Plant mobile support contact (evening, weekend and holiday support required from time to time)

  • Ability to implement ideas across multi-plant/country environment
  • Ability to influence suppliers to achieve the best outcome as it relates to James Hardie business objectives

  • Ability to conduct thorough request for proposal (RFP) analysis for effective evaluation of suppliers’ competitiveness
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in ERP systems software (SAP preferred)
  • Interpersonal skills and a team player attitude
  • Multi-tasking capability required
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications - Advanced Excel

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business
  • Minimum of 3 – 4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
