Maintains production and quality by ensuring efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.  Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.  Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; safely using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and wear of parts.

Responsible for all tasks related to predictive and preventative maintenance programs. Tasks include repair and maintenance of all machinery and equipment such as bucket elevators, conveyors, compressors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. 

Follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications while troubleshooting malfunctions.  Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.  Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

Education/Experience:

Required:

 

Associate degree in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent combination of experience and education.

 

Five or more years of heavy industrial mechanical and millwright experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment.
