As the Senior Director, Manufacturing Finance you will be responsible for leading and developing a world class capability in business finance and FP&A in support of manufacturing. You will provide executive level financial focus, oversight, direction, coaching, management, and leadership for Central Finance Teams as well as Plant Controllers and the corresponding plant financial operations.
What you’ll do: |
- Partner with manufacturing leaders, finance leaders and staff to build and set out the strategic direction and key business priorities.
- Serve as a key participant/principal thinker in charting and implementing the Manufacturing strategic and financial plans. Act as a catalyst for the initiatives, programs and activities necessary to achieve the performance objectives for Manufacturing.
- Driving long term profitable growth by providing insightful analysis of key plant investment(s) and establishing key metrics while evaluating risks and opportunities, and support in business decision making.
- Creating and own annual budgets and long term strategic plans. Establish operating forecasts and plans, including appropriate contingency planning.
- Responsible for financial and operational planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual manufacturing performance.
- Build and direct a world-class finance team utilizing the requisite systems and processes to support both corporate and business unit activities. This will include selection, development, appraisal, and compensation of all employees.
- Lead organization responsible for analysis and recommendations on expenditures and capital investment decision support.
- Drive resource optimization and expense management across the division.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards. Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. Effectively collaborate with the North American Controllership organization.
- Close alignment in running plant reviews, weekly performance reviews and integrate into James Hardie’s world class manufacturing playbook
- Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and serves as a resource to them in order to facilitate their professional development. Leads the development of team goals and objectives and the plans necessary to achieve the internal audit plan.
What you’ll bring: |
Experience as a Sr. Director of Finance leading finance for a large business unit within a global, public company environment, preferably in the diversified industrial manufacturing space. This person will come from an enterprise known for developing outstanding financial talent.
- An undergraduate degree is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area. A CPA designation is not required, but will be considered a plus. An advanced degree, such as an MBA, is also highly desirable.
- 15+ Years of progressive finance experience
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience as a Director of Finance with direct experience leading finance for a large business unit within a global, public company environment, preferably in the diversified industrial manufacturing space.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment is required
- An ability to naturally influence operating executives and to function as a true business partner. A “business-minded” finance executive who has the capability to go beyond the numbers in dissecting/analyzing business matters.
- This person must have outstanding analytical skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and the ability to engage with other senior leaders in addressing complex business issues.
- Experience in an environment highly recognized for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Strong audit and accounting skills are required
- A demonstrated track record of building world-class teams. Someone who can thoughtfully assess capability gaps, and build plans for addressing organizational needs within the finance function.
- A good listener with outstanding interpersonal qualities and a natural, effective consultative style. Someone who is sought out for their opinions and counsel and who can forge and maintain close relationships, both internally and externally.
- An energetic, resourceful and hands-on individual with a strong bias for action, someone who commits himself/herself fully to stretch goals and who is dedicated to developing and delivering outstanding results.
- A combination of analytic rigor, conceptual ability, creativity, mental flexibility and judgment. Someone who deals effectively with strategic issues, as well as the detailed tactical activity involved in driving high performance.
- An individual who possesses superior written/oral communication skills, as well as the ability to present his/her views in a clear and compelling manner to Executives.
- An individual with strong leadership presence who works well with all levels in the organization, as well as key external stake holders.
- A highly motivated team player that contributes to an atmosphere in which people work together to produce outstanding results. The ability to constructively reconcile differences in an open and positive manner.
- Someone who provides a good balance between risk taking and prudent judgment. Must be willing and able to “roll up the sleeves.”
- Unquestionable integrity, credibility and character who has demonstrated high moral and ethical behavior.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing accounting process and procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel both domestically (estimated at ~25%).
