Summary
The Director of Global Benefits plays a key role in shaping the global total rewards strategy, administering programs, and providing guidance to leadership on benefits and wellbeing programs. You will direct and manage the overall design and administration of health, welfare and retirement benefit programs and ensuring compliance within the U.S and Canada as well as driving a global benefits strategy for James Hardie. In addition, you will collaborate with the HR Business Partners, Finance partners, business stakeholders and leadership team to design the global Wellbeing initiatives of the company. Responsible for ensuring benefits programs are competitive, sustainable, compliant and have an impact on the short and long-term performance of the company.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with leadership to review, recommend, and implement benefit changes annually by participating in vendor review, plan design discussions and budgeting processes.
- Administer employee benefits and manages vendor relationships, reviewing vendor services and addressing performance as needed. This includes but is not limited to administration issues, benefit setup and opportunities.
- Manages and ensures the company annual benefit enrollment process is completed accurately and timely.
- Supports the organization's strategic objectives and keeps senior management apprised of internal and external issues.
- Develop and administer the Wellbeing program globally working with each region including Europe, APAC and North America.
- Responds to escalated employee or client level benefit issues/questions.
- Acts as a member of the Benefits Committee.
- Acts as liaison to HRIS/Payroll/HR Operations Department on software system changes, reporting, and conversions.
- Supervises benefit department employees by overseeing all benefit projects and escalated employee benefit issues from vendors, employees, and beneficiaries in a quick, equitable and courteous manner.
- Ensure plans meet current and future requirements of the Affordable Care Act regulations and legislation, and ensures statutory compliance with FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA and HIPAA legislation
- Research, analyze, and report the impact of state and federal laws on the benefits plan design and administration.
- Manages HIPAA compliance with respect to HIPAA privacy regulations. Ensures Business Associate Agreements are in-tact and updated as needed. Updates, provides and logs training for HR teams and other individuals that may touch PHI.
- Research best practices and trends; assesses market competitiveness; conducts and analyzes benefits surveys and makes recommendations for changes to ensure that our benefits are competitive against our peer group and the overall market
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources or related field
- A minimum of ten (10) years of benefits design, administration, and management experience, including managing a team
- Thorough understanding of U.S. broad-based benefits plan components, operations, and administration as well some global benefits experience – EU and APAC experience most preferred
- Ability to communicate benefits policies and legal regulations to staff and outside vendors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products
- Working knowledge of HRIS products; UKG and SuccessFactors
- Strong problem solving, financial, mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to conduct presentations and hold one-on-one meetings
- Organizational/planning skills including the ability to manage shifting priorities, multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong people management skills for direct reports as well as indirect reports for various projects
- Demonstrated proficiency in working in a collaborative environment when designing benefit programs
- Demonstrated experience in exercising a high degree of judgment, discretion and confidentiality
What You’ll Receive:
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $190,000 to $230,000. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
