What You’ll Do:

 

Position Summary

 The Strategic Accounts Manager reports to the Senior Director, Sales, and is responsible for retaining current business and delivering share growth with focus on an impactful group of strategic national distributors and/or Regional/National Builders. These strategic accounts are normally large national or regional customers that represent significant existing or potential business to James Hardie. The incumbent will be expected to influence and partner with key decision makers alongside regional sales leadership and integrate cross functionally within JHBP.

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain and build trusted partnerships with key strategic accounts and regional/national builders to retain and grow our share
  • Create alignment of customer goals and objectives. Align JH commercial organization by building out the “mirror” to create value up and down the customers organization. 
  • Development and implementation of strategic plans that achieve customer account goals and objectives. Lead and coordinate the development of jointly developed strategic plans that deliver mutual and sustainable growth
  • Execution of JH “Critical Few” by region inside accounts, where applicable, that support both JH and customer goals.
  • Implementation of national agreements through account development, enhancing existing account agreements, and maintaining current account agreements
  • Negotiation and execution of regional builder agreements through new account development working cross functionally with the South sales organization
  • Business Development through partnership with corporate and regional stakeholders to identify ways to increase category spend and share
  • Strong internal partnership with local regional leaders to ensure the best implementation of strategic initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Recognizing the different perspectives and priorities of executives and functional groups within the Company to effectively meet the diverse needs and timing of the various business leaders

Position Requirements

 The incumbent in this role must quickly develop a broad base of key industry contacts, develop an excellent understanding of JHBP segment strategies, products, goals and strategic objectives. Additionally, this role requires high emotional intelligence coupled with a strong abstract reasoning ability in order to effectively manage partnerships for mutual benefit of the customer and the company to ensure internal strategic objectives are met and exceeded.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the building industry
  • Proven work experience and results with strategic or key account management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building strong customer partnerships
  • Strong negotiation skills with a bias for problem solving
  • Ability to address customer requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Cross functional business leadership and internal organizational networking
  • Holds oneself with high level of integrity and nurtures trust from others
  • High level of strategic thinking and implementation
  • Strong business acumen
  • Bias for self-structure
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to travel extensively and regionally, up to 60% of a work week

 

 Education/Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in the building industry
  • Previous experience in people and strategic account management at a national level is preferred
  • Experience utilizing CRM tools and various software platforms
